Far From the Madding Crowd is Thomas Hardy’s fourth novel and his first major literary success.
Gabriel Oak is a young shepherd. He falls in love with Bathsheba Everdene, a proud beauty. She comes to like him well enough, but when he makes her an unadorned offer of marriage, she refuses. After a few months, she moves off.
When next they meet, their circumstances have changed drastically, Gabriel is ruined. He seeks employment at a work fair in the town of Casterbridge. When he finds none, he heads to another fair.
On the way, he happens upon a dangerous fire on a farm and helps in putting it out. When the veiled owner comes to thank him, he asks if she needs a shepherd. She uncovers her face and reveals herself to be none other than Bathsheba.

Frankenstein is a groundbreaking novel written by Mary Shelley, blending gothic horror with science fiction in a chilling tale of ambition, creation, and consequence. The story follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but impulsive young scientist who discovers the secret to creating life. Obsessed with unlocking the mysteries of nature, he assembles a creature from dead bodies and brings it to life—only to recoil in horror at what he has done.
Abandoned and rejected, the creature wanders alone, longing for kindness and understanding. But as he faces cruelty from everyone he meets, his sorrow turns to rage, setting him on a path of revenge against his creator. As Victor tries to escape the results of his own ambition, the two become locked in a dramatic pursuit that spans countries, seasons, and even the icy edges of the world.
Haunting and thought-provoking, Frankenstein explores what it means to be human—and what happens when we ignore the responsibilities that come with power and knowledge.

My Experiments with Truth is the autobiography of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, covering his life from early childhood through to 1920. It was initiated at the insistence of Swami Anand and other close coworkers of Gandhi, for him to explain the background of his public campaigns. It is a detailed record of his young life in Gujarat in India, his education in London, years in South Africa and later struggle for an independent India. Beneath it all lies his inner spiritual revelations and endless search for truth.
From the book: “Identification with everything that lives is impossible without self- purification; without self-purification the observance of the law of Ahimsa must remain an empty dream; God can never be realized by one who is not pure of heart. Self-purification therefore must mean purification in all the walks of life. And purification being highly infectious, purification of oneself necessarily leads to the purification of one's surroundings.”
—Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
